Weekend Away
Again, with all the wonderful weather we decided that when the kids had a Fri. off of school that we would get a way for a long weekend. So we made our way to Canmore and boy are we glad that we did. It ended up being such a great weekend. We got there Fri. morning and after some time exploring the hotel we were off for a hike along the Grassy Lake trail. It was beautiful.
Of course Darien was still on crutches and not able to put any wait on his foot but he was a real trooper. He rode in our cross country stroller for part of the up hill climb but soon got tired of it. He did end up sitting in it for the ride down because he was so tired. And at some points it was so steep that it took both Jamie and I to hold onto it so that he wouldn't go barreling down the mountain. LOL
He was so desperate to explore with the other boys so out he got and crutched all the way to the top of the mountain. It was very impressive. The boys were pretty excited when they found this "fort"
The pictures don't really do it justice in showing how steep the incline was. I love this picture of Rylan.
When we got to the top there were these amazing lakes. The water was so beautiful. We were all very excited.
My boys!!! Darien was pooped when he got to the top.
We found a cave that they had fun exploring. There are so many plans for the next time about what we need to take with us (flashlights and no crutches LOL).
This was by far one of the nicest hotels that we have stay at. It was all newly renovated with two bedrooms, a kitchen and the most amazing showers/bathtubs. LOL
Don't worry they are wearing their bathing suits. This is the boys trying to figure out all the different buttons for the shower. They loved the lighting, jets, radio, steam room, sauna and all the other extras that these showers had. LOL This was the cleanest that I think my kids have ever been but you would be too if you were having a shower 4 times a day. LOL
Getting ready for bed. So cute.
Swimming time. As usual we have to stay were there is a pool or how else do we burn up all our energy. LOL
Playing ball.
The next day was spent walking along the river.
And of course throwing rocks. I love the mountain in the back round.
The scenery was amazing. I was so happy that we were able to go to Canmore for the weekend. I have really missed having the mountains close by and often thought that it would be nice to move back to BC but after this weekend and seeing that we can do weekend trips that aren't too far it has renewed my desire for living were we do. We enjoy a lot of extras because we live here and I wouldn't trade that for anything.
The face in Canmore. So funny. In the winter time he gets to wear a toque. :)
