The Santa Claus and his elf helper was so great.
It took a lot of convincing to get Rylan to sit with him but look how cute he is.
The bishop then read a great store to all the kids. It was a great way to spend a Saturday morning.
We did start to go a little stir crazy with being stuck. We would borrow a car every morning and head to the airport to see if it would be our lucky day and each day after sitting there for two to three hours we would leave a little bit discouraged because we couldn't get out. We would head into two and get some dinner and head back to our cabin to spend the evening passing the time. As you can see above we did some dancing and below we did some singing. LOL We also watched a lot of infomercials. We were so temped so many times to buy what we saw be we resisted. LOL We did a lot of silly laughing too. It felt good.
We were getting ready to take up residence at this great place when we discovered that we would be able to get out. We had found a flight on another air line that would get us home. It cost us extra but we were just happy to be getting home.

I was less than impressed when I saw the plane that we would be flying on. This was the oldest plane that I have ever flown on. It was a little nerve racking. I was just happy to be on our way.
It was very tight quarters. There was no much room.
This was one of the very small airports that we stopped at. This is Old Crow were people come and pick up their family on their snowmobiles with their sleds attached. It was very entertaining.
This was the longest day. We had so many stops on our way home. We stopped in Old Crow, Dawson City, White Horse, Vancouver, then Edmonton. It was so crazy to us that we would have to fly so far north, then south then back to the middle again. LOL It ended up taking us 12 hours to get home, when our original flight only took 3 hours. LOL Oh well we had a great time and we were just happy to be home. What a grand adventure.
This is what the north looks like. Just past the ridge is the true tundra where there are no trees.
We made it to the Mackenzie River were every year they build an ice bridge to get across the river. This process takes about 2 weeks to do and they continue to flood it so that eventually large trucks can go across. When we were there the maximum weight for going across was 10,000kg eventually it will be up to 100,000kg. It was so cool to drive across the ice bridge and each side was jagged ice flows but we were driving on a smooth surface.
On the other side was this very isolated village. We were hoping to find a store so that we could buy some food but alas there was nothing there except for some homes and a rec centre. It was a little bit eerie. LOL
After a driving adventure it was time to head back and get ready for our next adventure of dog sledding. This was so amazing.
I have seen the pictures for the last couple of years of Jamie and the boys going but it just doesn't do it justice. Being there and experiencing it first had was amazing.
What I loved was how excited the dogs were getting ready to go and you had to really hold them back from taking off, they would be barking and just going nuts, but as soon as you started going it became silent and peaceful. 
This was a very steep hill and you had to you the brake to slow the sled down so that you wouldn't run over the dogs with it.

This was the best day to go as the trees were all snow covered still because there had been no wind. It was so beautiful.

Crazy Judy in the blue is the owner of the dogs and were we stayed. The whole time she kept yelling at us to have fun and act like 12 year olds and let loose. It was a blast.
We even did some racing across the lakes. Here we are getting ready to take off.
I am so glad that I was able to go on this trip with Jamie and see why he loves going so much. It was very special.
I think that I will even do it again. LOL
Everyone needs to have their picture taken in front of the Inuvik sign. 
We were so happy to be here. It was so cool because this was the last sun rise and sun set for the year. That was the last time that we saw the sun while we were there. After today all we will see is a little bit of light on the horizan.
Our new home. Little did we know that it would would really turn into our second home. LOL
The bed was so comfy and all the wood made it feel warm and cozy.

After finding out that my luggage was not going to come I was so thankful to find out that they had warm gear that I could borrow and it felt great. Here we are all ready to go for out tour.

Do we look warm or what. I love the huge gloves. The are made of wolf and bear and boy do they ever work well.
After about an hour we made it too this amazing cabin out in the middle of no were with no running water, electricity. It was had made and warmed by the wood stove and lit by lanterns and candles. 
The kitchen was so quant and cozy. 
We had the most amazing dinner of Arctic Char and it was cooked over a wood burning BBQ. As yoiu can see they all used head lamps to see what they were doing.
Sitting down for our yummy dinner. This was so worth it. We had a great conversation with the owners of the arctic chalet who have lived in Inuvik for over 30 years and love everthing about it. They have some great adventures and had wonderful stories to share.

Jamie was a little bit frozen. LOL
And so was I. What a great way to spending the evening. The stars were amazing.
We did have some fun touring around Yellow Knife. It was the farthest north that I have ever been.

This is our car. You can't really tell but we are on an ice road that takes you over the lake. I was a little nervous so we quickly took the picture and then got off the ice. LOL
This cute little lady got kicked off the flight also. She is from Inuvik and was trying to get home after being away so we hooked up with her and took her touring with us. This was once of our favorite little stores. 
We finally made it out of Yellow Knife the next day but as you can see from the look on Tyler's face there is something up and that something was that he had just watched them pull two of our suitcases off the plane. We were happy to be on the plane but the question was who would be with out luggage. The answer came when we landed in Inuvik to discover that Michelle and I had to luggage to meet us. We were a little upset. LOL
