Black Sands Beach

I have lost some of the pictures from our wonderful trip to Maui but that is ok as I am sure that I have plenty of pictures to share. LOL This was the most wonderful day. We drove along the most beautiful drive in America. It took us all day and it was great. When we finally stopped it was at the black sands beach. It was so amazing to see this sand and how black it really was.
There were some really neat caves that we could explore.

This is one place that I wouldn't feel to comfortable letting the kids explore as there are holes all over the place and it made me a little nervous but the views were amazing.

After exploring the beaches we made our way to some beautiful waterfalls. That is one of the main things that Jamie wanted to make sure that he saw.

This was the coolest hike. The vegetation was so diverse it was amazing. I would love to take the kids back here. This area of the hike made us think of hobbits and that they would live in a place like this. LOL All the roots from the tree were so neat.

Stopping for a group picture. Amazing.

The Banyan trees was so neat. I have never seen anything like them. They just keep growing.

This was my favorite part. We walked for about 45 min. through a bamboo forest. AMAZING. All you could see was bamboo, nothing else. At some points it was so tall and thick that it was like we were hiking at dusk, it got so dark.

The pictures don't do it justice but it was so cool.

This was the view as the end of the hike. The most amazing water fall.

I have never seen a water fall as tall as this one. It was so neat the way that it was set in a crater from the volcano.

After our long hike and getting a little over heated we hiked back down and then made our way to the seven sacred pools. These were continuous pools all connected by small water falls. It was nice to cool off.
The views along our drive were so beautiful. We decided to drive all the way around the island and we are so glad that we did.

This was by far the best part of the whole trip. GR who we were travelling with had this great book called "Explore Maui" and it gave you all these great places to stop and see. It had some things that everyone did and some that were a little bit off the beaten path and this was one of these. I don't remember what it was called but it had all these huge boulders on it and every time a wave would crash on them it made the sounds of a thunder storm and it was so neat. I loved it and could have sat there all day. It was so amazing to me to see no sand just huge boulders crashing together.

There is so much changing scenery on what I would call a small island. I had no idea that it was so different all over the island. This was my favorite day. It was a great way to see the whole island.

We had such a wonderful trip with our great friends. We have decided that we will try and take the kids here one day. It is so calm and peaceful. Not a lot of hustle and bustle. Thanks for a great trip friends. :)
